Kids Care, the region’s pediatric critical care transport, is available 24/7 from Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children. This “ICU on wheels” is staffed by highly trained pediatric and neonatal medical teams. From hospitals throughout the region, injured and critically ill children and newborns are transported to the area’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children.
Kids Care-One and Kids Care-Two, the dedicated transport vehicles, were made possible through the cooperation of the hospital and Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc. (HEMSI), as well as through the generosity of donors and funds raised by the Huntsville Hospital Foundation. Both ambulances are sporting new wraps featuring a daytime and nighttime theme. Every child transported receives a special moon and sun pillow to match the ambulances, graciously provided by the Foundation’s Sew Healing program volunteers.
Physicians can request Kids Care transport for their patients by contacting the Huntsville Hospital Transfer Center.
