What to Expect

  • If you do not arrive 45 minutes prior to your appointment time, your test will need to be rescheduled.
  • The appointment plus preparation time will take 1 hour 45 minutes from arrival time.
  • A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child.
  • Together, you and the therapist will develop a plan to achieve your goals, which may include scheduling additional appointments if necessary.

Preparation

  • Bring all necessary feeding supplies, including a spoon, sippy cup, pacifier, bottles and nipples.
  • Please bring a variety of liquid and food items that the child handles well and those they struggle with.
  • If your child only drinks breast milk, you will need to bring a bottle of pumped milk.
  • Do not give your child any food or drink for 4 hours prior to the appointment. For newborns (8-12 weeks old), please wait 2-3 hours without food or drink, including tube feedings.
  • Ensure that any prescribed medications are administered as needed, and bring any necessary food or drinks.
  • If the mother is pregnant, please bring another family member who can stay in the room with the child.
  • Don’t forget to bring your insurance cards and identification. Legal guardians must also provide legal guardianship documents.
