Family counseling regarding hearing loss and resources

Our pediatric audiologists explain the hearing loss, what to expect, and treatment options including communication approaches to the child's family. Support and resources are provided. Impact on speech/communication development and educational settings are considered when developing a treatment plan.

Our Audiology team includes speech language pathologists specializing in treatment of children with hearing loss. Coordination with occupational and physical therapy is available in the same clinic, as needed.

About Childhood Hearing Loss

Approximately 3 infants out of 1,000 are born with hearing loss. Of these infants, 90-95% are born to hearing parents who have had little to no exposure to hearing loss. If hearing loss is not identified and treated early, it can impede speech, language and cognitive development.
